
Baramulla, Feb 14: Shaan-e-Varmul, an initiative to honour the selfless silent workers in the society of Baramulla, was held at Thimayya Hall of the Dagger Division. An initiative which was started last year has come to its second edition with much fanfare and active participation from the locals. A widespread media campaign covering FM Radio, Social Media Platforms, advertisements, posters and pamphlets over the last three months saw large-scale participation and recommendations from people of all age groups across the district. The awardees were chosen by the locals and felicitated by the Indian Army in a programme attended by over 300 locals. The awardees ranged from 10-year-old child Mohammed Sayeed Bhat to 66-year-old Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmed. Baramulla also overwhelmingly voted to recognize posthumously the effort of. Arjumand Majeed towards social service; the award was collected by his wife.
The programme was presided by Maj Gen Manoj Joshi, VSM, GOC Dagger Division as Chief Guest. A total of twenty prominent personalities were felicitated for their contributions in a wide range of fields like Public Service, Education, Environment, Sports, Innovation, Science and Technology, Medicine, Bravery and Service to the Nation. The ceremony was preceded by a sensational cultural programme by local youth mesmerizing the attendees.
Shaan-e-Varmul 2.0 has once again succeeded in creating a whole new set of role models in the society and recognized the relentless pursuits of the worthy Baramullians as they cement one brick at a time and become part of the journey of Viksit Bharat 2047
