Srinagar, July 26: All government and recognised private schools across Jammu and Kashmir will reopen on Monday following a marked improvement in weather conditions.
A senior official in the School Education Department said the government has decided not to extend the summer vacation of schools across Jammu and Kashmir and the schools will reopen as per schedule on Monday.
Earlier, the government had announced summer vacations for all schools in Kashmir and winter zones of Jammu Division from July 6 to July 19.
On July 18, the government extended the vacation till July 22 in view of the prevailing heatwave conditions and the adverse weather forecast.
Subsequently, following heavy rainfall, flash flood warnings and inclement weather, the government again extended the summer vacation till July 26 for schools in the Kashmir Division and winter zones of Jammu Division.
The extension came after the Meteorological Department forecast heavy rainfall and warned of flash floods between July 20 and July 23, prompting the administration to take precautionary measures.
Officials said all educational institutions have been directed to resume normal academic activities from Monday.
