Khour, June 7: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, IT, Youth Services & Sports, and Science & Technology Satish Sharma on Sunday reiterated the government’s commitment to border welfare, infrastructure development, employment generation and transparent governance during a public interaction at the historic Royal Palace, Khour.
The minister witnessed strong public participation, with delegations from social and youth groups, local representatives and community organisations raising key demands related to roads, healthcare, education, employment, connectivity and welfare schemes for border areas.
Sharma assured that the government remains sensitive to the challenges faced by border residents and said all genuine issues would be taken up with concerned authorities on a priority basis. He particularly highlighted compensation for families affected by shelling and conflict-related incidents, describing it as a key priority area for the administration.
Recalling recent cross-border hostilities, the minister said the government had successfully carried out large-scale evacuation operations, shifting nearly 70,000 people from vulnerable areas to safer locations with coordinated departmental efforts, including support from transport agencies.
During the visit, appointment orders were handed over to newly selected Anganwadi Workers, whom the minister described as vital contributors to grassroots health, nutrition, and early childhood development services.
Sharma directed officials to ensure timely grievance redressal, faster execution of pending works, and transparent implementation of welfare schemes. He warned that negligence and delays in public service delivery would not be tolerated.
He also outlined upcoming development initiatives for Khour and adjoining areas, focusing on road connectivity, infrastructure expansion, digital services, education, sports facilities and youth employment opportunities.
Emphasising inclusive and technology-driven governance, the minister said the government aims to ensure balanced regional development and equal opportunities for rural and border regions. He urged public participation in the development process to achieve sustainable progress in Jammu and Kashmir.
