The district administration Baramulla today issued advisory for the people living in low-lying area of the district asking them to take precautions in the wake of inclement weather and prediction of rainfall for next few days by the Meteorological department.
“In view of the predication of the rainfall over the next couple of days and pursuant to the advisory issued by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Indian Meteorological department and the MeT department Srinagar, general public and the people living in low-lying areas, foothills of Karewvas and near the rivers, nallahs, are advised to refrain from venturing into the flood prone areas/flood areas,” the advisory reads.
It states that people need to keep emergency supplies handy and stay tuned to local weather updates. “People are urged to remain vigilant and prioritise safety above all else.
They should avoid unnecessary travel, especially in the areas prone to floods and if the travel is must, ensure that appropriate rain gear is taken along and drive carefully,” the advisory states, further, adding that people are requested to ensure that the pets and livestock are moved to higher ground and are safe.
“If evacuating, take pets with you and ensure they have identification and necessary supplies.
