Railway staff reunites missing child with parents at Katra Station

Jammu, May 19: Displaying alertness and compassion, a ticket checking staff member at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station safely reunited a missing child with her parents, setting an example of humanity and dedicated passenger service.According to officials, Ticket Checking Staff member Dinesh Kumar, while performing duty at the railway station under Northern Railway’s Jammu Division, noticed a young girl wandering alone and crying inside the station premises.

Realising that the child had been separated from her family, he immediately comforted her, offered her water and tried to gather details. As the frightened child was unable to share her identity or address, the staff member promptly informed railway authorities and the Railway Protection Force.Continuous announcements describing the child were then made through the station’s public address system. Following the swift action, the child’s anxious parents, who had been searching for her, soon reached the spot.
After completing necessary verification formalities, the child was safely handed over to her family. The relieved parents expressed heartfelt gratitude to the railway administration and the staff for their timely assistance and humane approach.Appreciating the efforts of the employee, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Jammu, Uchit Singhal, said the railway administration remains committed to passenger safety and assistance.He said Dinesh Kumar not only discharged his duty responsibly but also demonstrated sensitivity and humanity through his prompt response, which helped reunite the child safely with her family.
