Pulwama police backs women’s cricket

Pulwama, Aug 27: Promoting women’s participation in sports and providing a vibrant platform for local sporting talent, J&K Police in Pulwama inaugurated a Grand Knockout Cricket Tournament for Women at Niloora Cricket Ground under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2026-27. The inaugural ceremony was graced by SSP Pulwama Ms. Tanushree-IPS, along with other senior police officers of the district.

The tournament features six teams from different parts of the district. The opening match between Grece 11 Pulwama and The Royal Strikers Pulwama witnessed enthusiastic participation and spirited competition, setting an energetic tone for the tournament. Interacting with the participating players, SSP Pulwama Ms. Tanushree-IPS appreciated their enthusiasm and sporting spirit and encouraged them to pursue sports with dedication. She highlighted the importance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, confidence and overall development among youth.
The initiative provides a positive platform for women players to showcase their talent, compete in a healthy sporting environment and pursue their sporting aspirations. Police remains committed to promoting sports, empowering women and strengthening police-public relations through meaningful community-oriented initiatives under the Civic Action Programme.
