Police launches U-19 Cricket Tournament

Pulwama, Oct 3: Promoting youth participation in sports and providing a vibrant platform for budding sporting talent, J&K Police in Pulwama inaugurated a U-19 Knockout Cricket Tournament for Boys at Lelhar Cricket Ground, Kakapora, under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2026-27.

The tournament features eight teams from different parts of the district, providing young cricketers an opportunity to showcase their talent while fostering discipline, teamwork and healthy competition. The opening match between Blue Caps Lelhar U-19 and Young Stars Marwal U-19 witnessed enthusiastic participation and spirited competition, setting an energetic tone for the tournament.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by senior police officers of the district, who interacted with the young players and encouraged them to pursue sports with dedication and discipline. The officers highlighted the importance of sports in building confidence, teamwork and a positive outlook among youth.
The initiative reflects Police’s continued commitment towards youth engagement, promotion of sports and strengthening police-public relations through community-oriented initiatives under CAP 2026-27.
