Srinagar, Sept 25: Police has taken prompt action in a case involving alleged sexual harassment of a minor girl in the Aripal area of Awantipora in Tral and arrested the accused Physical Education Teacher (PET).
A police spokesman said yesterday a written complaint was lodged at Police Post Aripal alleging sexual harassment of a 15-year-old girl (name withheld) by Bilal Ahmad Lone son of Gh. Nabi Lone, resident of Darganigund, posted as Physical Education Teacher (PET) at Government High School (GHS), Lam, Aripal.
Accordingly, FIR No. 107/2026 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Tral, and investigation was taken up.
“During the course of investigation, a police team led by Incharge Police Post Aripal, initiated necessary legal proceedings. Through technical and human intelligence, the involvement of the said accused was established, following which he was apprehended and subsequently arrested,” the police spokesman said.
He said further investigation is underway.
“Police reiterates its commitment to the safety and protection of children and assures that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in offences against minors, in accordance with law,” added the spokesman.
