PoJK protests escalate amid reported crackdown plans

June 14, 2026 | BK News Service

Srinagar, June 13: Pakistan is reportedly considering “decisive action” against elements accused of disturbing law and order in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), amid continuing unrest and protests led by the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) demanding economic relief and governance reforms.

According to reports, the move comes as PoK remains on edge following days of demonstrations over issues including inflation, lack of basic facilities, and delays in promised administrative reforms. The protests, spearheaded by the JAAC, have drawn large public participation in several areas, reflecting growing discontent over local governance and economic hardship.
Sources suggest that security and administrative authorities in Pakistan are deliberating strong measures to restore control and prevent further escalation. An action against JAAC-linked elements is expected as early as tonight, though official confirmation is awaited.
The situation has heightened tensions across PoK, with authorities maintaining heightened alert in sensitive areas. The developments underscore the deepening friction between protest groups and the administration over long-standing demands related to governance, resources, and political rights.
Meanwhile, JAAC leaders continue to press for immediate implementation of their charter of demands, warning that failure to address grievances could intensify the agitation in the coming days.
