Over-speeding, overloading major challenges for traffic police: SSP Ravinder Singh

December 17, 2024 | BK News Service

SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir, Ravinder Pal Singh, stated on Monday that over-speeding and overloading remain major challenges for the traffic police.
However, he assured that efforts to address these violations will continue with sustained enforcement drives.
Ravider Pal Singh also highlighted that approximately 20% of two-wheeler riders still fail to wear helmets, posing a serious safety concern.
Speaking to media persons , the SSP explained that the traffic police are intensifying their focus on young drivers, particularly minors, who often lack valid driving licenses.
“Accidents involving minors are on the rise. Their excitement and thrill-seeking behavior frequently result in reckless driving, endangering not only themselves but others on the road,” he said.
The SSP today visited Baramulla district to review ongoing traffic management efforts.
He revealed that a special traffic drive, operational for the past two months, will continue to target major violations, including over-speeding, overloading, and driving without valid documents.
“Over-speeding and overloading remain persistent problems , contributing significantly to road accidents. While a majority of two-wheeler riders use helmets, 20% still neglect this vital safety measure”.
Drivers are reminded to carry essential documents such as insurance, pollution certificates, and vehicle fitness papers.
The SSP warned that vehicles without proper documentation would face stringent action.
Owners of unregistered vehicles are also urged to ensure their details are updated in the digital system, as the traffic department relies on online records to verify compliance.
“Follow traffic laws, drive responsibly, and support our initiatives to reduce accidents. Together, we can create safer roads for everyone,” SSP Ravinder Pal Singh appealed.
