
Jammu, July 24: Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command, conducted a comprehensive review of the security framework and operational preparedness of hinterland formations in the Kashmir Valley during his visit on July 22–23, 2026.During the visit, the Army Commander was briefed on the integrated intelligence architecture, revised operational procedures, and strengthened joint response mechanisms adopted by the security forces to effectively address evolving security challenges. A detailed review of the security arrangements for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 was also undertaken to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.Following field assessments, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma chaired an Apex Level Security Coordination Meeting in Srinagar, bringing together senior representatives from key security and intelligence agencies. The meeting focused on reviewing the prevailing security environment and deliberating on coordinated measures to further strengthen the region's security architecture.Reaffirming the importance of synergised and coordinated joint operations, the Army Commander emphasized enhanced intelligence sharing and seamless inter-agency cooperation as critical elements in maintaining peace and stability in the Union Territory.He appreciated the dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment of all ranks of the Indian Army and personnel from sister security and intelligence agencies for their collective efforts in safeguarding the region and ensuring a secure environment for the people and the ongoing Shri Amarnath Yatra.
