Baramulla, Sep 11: Employees of the National Health Mission (NHM) continued their protest at the premises of Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla on Friday, marking the third day of their agitation over a range of long-pending demands, including job security, salary revision, pay parity and social security benefits.

The protesting employees raised concerns over what they described as prolonged uncertainty regarding their service conditions and called upon the authorities to address their demands on priority.
The employees said NHM personnel have been playing a crucial role in strengthening healthcare delivery, particularly at the grassroots level, but continue to face uncertainty over their employment and financial security.
During the protest, the employees reiterated their demand for a comprehensive policy to ensure job security and a stable career structure for NHM workers. They also sought revision of salaries in line with their responsibilities and demanded pay parity with employees performing similar duties in the health sector.
The protesters further demanded adequate social security benefits, saying that employees serving for years under the NHM should not be left without sufficient safeguards concerning their future.
The agitation at GMC Baramulla is part of the broader campaign by NHM employees seeking early intervention from the government. The protesters urged the concerned authorities to initiate meaningful dialogue with their representatives and work towards resolving the issues through a time-bound process.
They maintained that their demands were linked not only to their own welfare but also to the continuity and efficiency of healthcare services, as a motivated and secure workforce was essential for effective public health delivery.
The employees appealed to the administration to take cognisance of their concerns and announce concrete measures to address their long-pending demands.
They said they would continue their peaceful protest until their grievances were suitably addressed and a clear roadmap for resolving the issues was provided by the authorities.
