Strive to be a Decent Person

May 18, 2024 | Adiya Parvaiz

The Quran, the sacred book of Muslims, mentions that although Allah (SWT) created the universe and millions of diverse species on Earth, humans were given a special status among these creatures. The question is, however, why humans were granted this unique status. Unlike other animals, humans have the ability to think, eat, feel, and perform a wide range of other functions.

My goal is to demonstrate how being human differs greatly from being good. Even though I am aware that I will never be a flawless person, I may nevertheless make a constant effort to improve. I would like to seek guidance from my elders, teachers, and parents in order to do this.I would like to seek guidance from my elders, teachers, and parents in order to do this. I believe that in order to be a good human being, I need to possess certain virtues, such as kindness toward everyone. Since lies and deception are not characteristics of good and loving people, I must speak the truth and refrain from lying. I have a duty to constantly extend assistance to others; they should all feel at ease and comfortable approaching me for support. I have to show consideration.
I must possess excellent listening abilities. I have to be quite honest so that people will feel comfortable enough to trust me. As our beloved prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) once said, "Islam has 70 levels, among which the first one is to remove a hurdle from the road." This hadith makes it abundantly evident that humanity is the first lesson that Islam teaches us. People are meant for social service. I can't be judgmental if I want to be a decent person. I have to inspire people and myself to do good deeds and reach higher goals. I am aware that striving to live a decent life is something different that I have to do on my own and that I am not alone in this endeavor.
The most important thing I can do is strive toward positive change, changing myself for the sake of Almighty Allah (SWT), for other creations, and for myself. In my opinion, consistency, discipline, and timeliness are more important in this situation than hard labor. I have to make myself able to forgive other people. I ought to encourage others when they feel alone and sad. I have to remember my aakirah in whatever I do.
Since we will be questioned about how we used time on the day of the resurrection, I believe that making better use of time is essential to achieving this aim. A decent person has hundreds of attributes, and I realize that i will never be able to possess them all at once. Patience and perseverance are needed. I am confident that my efforts will be repaid, as I will feel more morally upright and, most importantly, guilt- and shame-free. My final product will have a superb and high-quality shape. May the Almighty assist me and make my journey easier. Ameen!
