
Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar marked a major academic milestone with the grand inauguration of the 13th International Conference of the Society of Clinical Anatomists (SOCACON 2025). The three-day conference, held in hybrid mode from July 10–12, attracted over 300 delegates from India and abroad.
The inaugural session was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Nilofer Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir, who hailed the event as a celebration of visionary leadership, innovation, and international collaboration in clinical anatomy. “SOCACON 2025 is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our medical fraternity towards excellence in anatomical sciences,” she said.
Prof. (Dr.) Iffat Hassan Shah, Principal and Dean of GMC Srinagar and Patron of SOCACON 2025, welcomed participants, praising the Department of Anatomy for hosting a global academic platform in Srinagar. “This conference is a celebration of anatomical excellence and collaborative spirit,” she remarked.
Prof. (Dr.) Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, Head of the Anatomy Department at GMC Srinagar, emphasized the department’s dedication to academic excellence and interdisciplinary research. “SOCACON-2025 is a significant milestone in our academic journey,” he noted.
The conference brought together distinguished anatomists, clinicians, and researchers to deliberate on cutting-edge developments in anatomical sciences. Keynote speakers included Prof. (Dr.) Ghulam Nabi (University of Dundee, UK), Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Ashraf Ganie (SKIMS Srinagar), Dr. Mohammad Sultan Khuroo, Prof. (Dr.) P. Vatsala Swamy (D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune), and others.
Organizing Secretary Prof. (Dr.) Bashir Ahmad Shah and Co-Organizing Secretary Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Saleem Itoo led the conference arrangements, supported by Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, Administrator of Associated Hospitals, GMC Srinagar.
Dr. Kumar Satish Ravi, Vice Principal of NIMS Jaipur, praised the event for its intellectual rigor and innovative depth, calling it a benchmark for future anatomical conferences.
The event concluded with a heartfelt valedictory ceremony, where thanks were extended to all delegates, faculty, students, and support staff for their role in making SOCACON 2025 a resounding success.
