Zakhama , Sep 16: A 12-day Military Hospital Attachment Camp for National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets commenced at the General Hospital under Spear Corps at Zakhama in Nagaland, providing the young participants an opportunity to gain practical exposure to basic healthcare and emergency response.
The camp is being conducted under the guidance of a specialist medical team of the Indian Army, with cadets undergoing structured training in basic healthcare, emergency triage and preventive medicine.
As part of the programme, the cadets are being introduced to essential life-saving techniques through expert-led sessions and practical drills. Training modules include cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), trauma stabilisation, casualty evacuation and other aspects of emergency medical response.
The hands-on nature of the training is aimed at helping cadets understand how to respond effectively during medical emergencies and disaster situations. The exposure also seeks to familiarise them with the functioning of a military hospital and the role of trained personnel in managing casualties during emergencies.
The initiative forms part of efforts to equip NCC cadets with practical skills that can prove valuable beyond their regular training. By developing basic emergency response and disaster management capabilities, the programme seeks to prepare the cadets to contribute meaningfully to community service, particularly during accidents, natural disasters and other emergencies.
The interaction with Army medical professionals is also providing the cadets an opportunity to learn directly from specialists and gain a better understanding of preventive healthcare and responsible community participation.
Through the 12-day attachment, the cadets are expected to strengthen their confidence, discipline and preparedness while acquiring skills that can help them act as first responders when required.
