Navodayan Cricket championship inaugurated

Doda, May 23: The sixth edition of the NBC2 2K26 Navodayan Brotherhood Cricket Championship-2026 was inaugurated today at the Sports Stadium Doda. The two-day cricket championship has brought together Navodayan alumni teams and cricket enthusiasts from different parts of the country on a common platform to promote brotherhood, unity and sportsmanship.

Deputy Commissioner Krishan Lal along with SSP Kartik Shrotriya inaugurated the championship in the presence of players, organisers, sports lovers and prominent citizens.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the organisers for hosting such a vibrant sports event aimed at strengthening the bond among Navodayan alumni and encouraging youth participation in sports activities. He highlighted the importance of sports in promoting discipline, teamwork, leadership qualities and a healthy lifestyle among the younger generation.
The SSP also conveyed his best wishes to all participating teams and emphasised the significant role of sports in channelising the energy of youth towards positive and constructive activities. Both officers appreciated the spirit of unity, friendship and brotherhood reflected through the championship and encouraged the participants to play with dedication, discipline and true sportsmanship while upholding the values of fair play and mutual respect.
The championship is being hosted by the J&K Navodayan Jaguars Alumni Cricket Team with participation from several Navodayan alumni associations and teams from different states, including Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and Haryana. The event witnessed an energetic atmosphere with colourful decorations, enthusiastic supporters and exciting cricketing action. The organisers informed that the championship aims to strengthen alumni connections, promote cultural interaction and provide a platform for nurturing sporting talent among former Navodaya students. Prominent alumni members, sports officials, youth participants and cricket lovers were present on the occasion.
