In a moving blend of history, patriotism, and cultural immersion, students from PM Shri Government High School, Yangphi, Kiphire in Nagaland—currently on a National Integration Tour organised by the Assam Rifles—visited Fatehpur Sikri, India Gate, and the National War Memorial in New Delhi.
The educational journey, part of a larger initiative to foster unity and national pride among students from remote and border areas, gave the young participants a chance to experience India’s rich historical legacy and military valour firsthand.
At Fatehpur Sikri, the Mughal-era city built by Emperor Akbar, the students explored stunning architectural marvels such as Buland Darwaza, Panch Mahal, and Diwan-i-Khas, gaining insights into India’s pluralistic past and the ethos of secular governance.
The tour then moved to India Gate, a symbol of sacrifice and patriotism. The students paid tribute to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during World War I and other military engagements. The experience was further deepened with a visit to the National War Memorial, where the names of over 25,000 fallen Indian soldiers are etched in stone.
“The National War Memorial left us speechless. It was an honour to walk through those corridors of sacrifice,” said one student, visibly moved after the wreath-laying ceremony.
Officials from Assam Rifles, who are facilitating the tour, noted that such visits are designed to bridge regional and cultural divides, exposing students to the diversity and unity that define India.
“This tour isn’t just about sightseeing,” said an officer from Assam Rifles. “It’s about building national character, sowing the seeds of patriotism, and giving these students a sense of belonging to a larger national identity.”
The tour has been an eye-opening journey for the students—many of whom were travelling outside Nagaland for the first time. Apart from historical knowledge, the trip offered them a platform for interaction with students from other parts of India, helping develop mutual respect and understanding.
As they continue their tour to other cultural and historical sites, the young ambassadors from Nagaland carry with them a renewed sense of pride, unity, and hope—making the National Integration Tour not just a journey through monuments, but a lasting experience in nation-building.
