One of the great Muslim thinkers of our time, the preacher of the Quran and source of the guidance for the millions of people left heavenly abode.Moulana Waheed ud Din Khan seems like a breath of fresh air in the otherwise currently suffocating air of Muslim Scholarship in the subcontinent.

Known with the honorific Maulana, Waheed ud Din Khan was an Indian Islamic scholar and peace activist known for having written a commentary on the Quran and having translated it into contemporary English. He was listed in 500 the most great personalities of the world.
Khan received the Demiurgus Peace International Award, under the patronage of the former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev; India's third-highest civilian honor, the Padma Bhushan, in January 2000.The National Citizens' Award, presented by Mother Teresa and the Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award (2009).He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honor.
Moulana has authored over 200 books on Islam, prophetic wisdom, spirituality and coexistence in a multi-ethnic society" as well on Islam's relations with modernity and secularism
He was thoroughly learned in various points of view in the subjects he explored used to come up with unique and original points of view, backed up with evidence and argument.
I have found that his tone in conversation and in writing was always scholarly. He presented his opinion in a straightforward way. In that he discussed the ideas while never targeting individuals thus came out as unassuming with his criticisms and his critics alike.
To give full expression to positive ideas, Maulana Wahiduddin Khan established the Islamic Centre at New Delhi in 1970. Subsequently, in 1976, he launched the voice of the mission, Al-Risala – the monthly magazine. This journal, consisting entirely of his own articles, quickly acquired a wide circulation throughout the Urdu-speaking world, and has done much to make people understand the peaceful face of Islam, to awaken in Muslims a new awareness of their social responsibilities and to promote positive thinking and action. The first issues of the English and Hindi versions of Al-Risala were launched respectively in February 1984, and December 1990. The English version is now being published under the title of Spirit of Islam.
I think his attitude sets a great example to follow, not only for ordinary individuals but also for scholars in the Islamic world.
He was a positive and moderate person. I was raised up in an area of stereotypical Mullahs, they are really extreme in case of every religion especially in Islam, but after reading Maulana Waheedudin's posts I realized that Islam is a peaceful and easy to apply religion.
In a nutshell, Maulana had a deep knowledge about Islam and its applications in daily life, in a positive way without extremism. May Allah bestow him the heighest place in Jannat.Ameen
