Khonsa, Oct 21: A major fire erupted at Khonsa Market in Arunachal Pradesh around 11:30 PM on October 20, 2025, reportedly triggered by firecrackers during Diwali celebrations. The blaze quickly spread across several shops and nearby houses, causing panic among residents.

Assam Rifles troops, in coordination with the District Fire Department, CRPF, and local volunteers, responded promptly to the emergency. Their swift and coordinated action helped contain the fire and prevent further damage, averting what could have been a major disaster.
Authorities have urged shopkeepers and residents to exercise caution during festive celebrations and ensure safety measures are in place to prevent such incidents in the future.
