
Srinagar, May 24: Lt Governor Manoj Sinha led a mega padyatra against drugs under the ongoing 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday.
The 100-day Nasha Mukht J&K Abhiyan, which was launched by Lt Governor Sinha on April 11, has evoked tremendous public response. Peoples in hundreds and belonging to different sections of society are participating in the anti-drug padyatras.
Sinha would lead the mega anti-drug padyatra in Bandipora district on Monday.
Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, today appealed to people of the district to participate in the mega Padyatra being organized on Monday under the ongoing 100 Day Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan.
She said that the Lieutenant Governor launched the 100 Day Nasha Mukt Abhiyan across Jammu and Kashmir from April 11, 2026, with the objective of intensifying the fight against drug abuse and taking the message of a drug-free society to every household.
The DC informed that the Mega Padyatra in Bandipora district will be conducted on Monday starting from S.K Stadium Bandipora and culminate at Ajar Chowk.
“Tomorrow’s Mega Padyatra is not merely an event, but a collective pledge of the people of Bandipora against drug abuse. Every citizen’s participation will strengthen this mission and send a strong message that society stands united for a Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir,” the DC said.
She urged people of Bandipora district including youth, students, civil society members, traders, religious leaders, PRIs, government employees and the general public to participate in large numbers.
During the ongoing Nasha Mukht J&K campaign, police have registered 850 FIRs under NDPS-related offences and arrested 942 persons involved in drug trafficking activities.
About 293 drug peddlers were specifically apprehended while 49 drug hotspots were identified for focused intervention and surveillance.
Authorities have also intensified financial investigations against narcotics syndicates by targeting illegally acquired assets linked to drug traffickers.
As per official figures, 55 houses belonging to drug traffickers were sealed or demolished during the campaign. Besides, 71 immovable properties worth approximately ₹46.32 crore were attached or seized, while 34 properties valued at around ₹16.48 crore were demolished. Movable assets worth approximately ₹2.14 crore were also seized or attached during the anti-drug operations.
The campaign is also targeting logistical and regulatory violations linked to narcotics trafficking. Authorities suspended or cancelled 414 driving licences, cancelled 13 vehicle registration certificates and suspended 118 drug store licences while permanently cancelling two licences.
Moreover, 1,285 Aadhaar cancellation applications were processed and 119 passport impoundment proceedings initiated against suspects involved in drug-related activities.
