Jammu, Feb 17: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday called for a transformative shift in educational campuses to realize the vision of Developed India@2047. Speaking at the valedictory function of the 48-hour national-level Hackathon “Innovathon 1.0” organized by the Skill, Incubation, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (SIIEDC), University of Jammu, Sinha highlighted the critical role of young innovators in shaping India’s future.
“India’s ambition in the technology revolution must go beyond participation. We must become leaders. Today, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are reshaping human civilization, and nations that master these technologies will write the rules for the coming century,” the LG said.
Sinha emphasized that campuses must evolve beyond degree-granting institutions into “factories of ideas” and “workshops of innovation,” where students move from learning theory to actively creating solutions. Highlighting the five thematic pillars of Innovathon 1.0—AI, Cyber-Physical Systems, Sustainability, Health-Tech, and Responsible Tourism—he urged youth to focus on solutions that can uplift society and drive national progress.
He added that emerging technologies should augment human capability rather than replace it, and stressed the importance of interdisciplinary teamwork, practical application, and translating concepts into commercial solutions. “Transform knowledge into creation, silos into synergy, and aspirations into achievements. Don’t just participate in the future—define it,” Sinha told the participants.
The event saw participation from innovators, startup entrepreneurs, and faculty members, including Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, and Prof. Alka Sharma, Director, SIIEDC.
