Kathua, Sep 11: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today unveiled the trophy and team kits for the maiden Kathua Football League, here at a ceremony held in the Conference Hall, DC Office Complex, followed by a media briefing.

The first match of the league shall be played tomorrow, marking the commencement of the much-awaited football tournament being organised by the District Administration Kathua under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan. The objective is promotion of sports culture, encouraging youth participation and providing a structured platform to local football talent, besides mobilizing youth participation against drug menace.
Addressing the media, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the role of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, leadership and a healthy lifestyle among youth. He called upon young people to actively participate in sporting activities and make the best use of the opportunities being created at the district level.
The media briefing also highlighted the objectives of the league and the initiatives of the District Administration towards strengthening the sporting ecosystem, promoting fitness and creating greater opportunities for youth to pursue sporting excellence.
The league will feature 12 teams from different parts of Kathua district, providing aspiring footballers an opportunity to showcase their talent, gain competitive exposure and nurture their sporting potential.
With the inaugural match scheduled for tomorrow, the Kathua Football League is expected to generate enthusiasm among football enthusiasts and youth across the district.
Among others, ADC Mahima Madan, CPO Ranjeet Thakur, DYSSO Sunil Kumar, DIO Gurpreet Singh besides captains of participating teams were also present.
