Poonch, Oct 11: The 31st Throwball Federation Cup (Men & Women) 2026 concluded successfully at BSF Ground, Rajpura, Mandi, District Poonch, with 16 teams from different States and Union Territories participating in the championship.

Karnataka emerged as the overall winner in both the Men’s and Women’s categories, defeating Delhi in the finals of both groups. Uttar Pradesh secured third place in the Men’s category, while Himachal Pradesh finished third in the Women’s category.
Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Sh. Ashok Kumar Sharma (JKAS), was the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony. The event was attended by ADC Poonch Tahir Mustafa Malik (JKAS), CEO Tourism Fareed Kholi (JKAS), Varinder Kumar, 2IC, 53 BN BSF, Khalil Banday (JKAS), AD Food, Poonch, Abhay Matho, Deputy Commandant, 53 BN BSF, and K. N. Govinda Raj, Secretary General, Throwball Federation of India (TFI).
Other dignitaries present included Sahil Ali Beigh, General Secretary, J&K 7 Side Throwball Association; Vilayat Hussain, President, J&K 7 Side Throwball Association; and Javid Ahmed, President, Raisa Kouser, General Secretary, and Ikhlaq Mehmood, Joint Secretary, District Poonch Throwball Association.
The stage proceedings were conducted by Sayed Imran Hussain Shah.
The Chief Guest, accompanied by other dignitaries, presented trophies, medals and certificates of merit to the winner, runner-up and third-place teams. Officials, volunteers, umpires, media representatives and other individuals who contributed to the successful conduct of the championship were also felicitated for their support and cooperation.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries appreciated the participation of teams from different parts of the country and acknowledged the role of sports in promoting discipline, teamwork, mutual understanding and a healthy lifestyle among youth.
Javid Ahmed Lone, President, District Poonch Throwball Association, presented the vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to all participating players, team officials, concerned departments, the personnel of 53 BN BSF, Mandi Poonch, media representatives, volunteers and everyone who extended their support in making the championship a success.
The 31st Throwball Federation Cup (Men & Women) 2026 was jointly organised by the District Poonch Throwball Association and the J&K 7 Side Throwball Association under the aegis of the Throwball Federation of India (TFI).
The successful conclusion of the championship marked an important occasion for the promotion of throwball in Jammu and Kashmir and provided a platform for players from different States and Union Territories to showcase their talent and sporting spirit.
