
Jammu, Feb 27: Commissioner Secretary, Health & Medical Education Department, M. Raju, chaired a high-level meeting of the State Task Force to review preparedness for the rollout of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination Programme across Jammu & Kashmir. The UT-level launch is scheduled for February 28, 2026, in alignment with the nationwide rollout by the Prime Minister.
During the meeting, Director Family Welfare, MCH & Immunization presented details of microplanning, vaccine availability across all 20 districts, training of vaccinators and supervisors, cold chain management through eVIN, logistics, AEFI surveillance and digital registration via the U-WIN portal.
The target group includes 14-year-old girls (who have completed 14 but not yet turned 15), with those turning 15 within 90 days also eligible during the three-month campaign. Around 1,35,340 beneficiaries have been identified across the UT.
The Secretary emphasized interdepartmental coordination, especially with the Education Department and ICDS, along with awareness generation to counter misinformation. He directed stakeholders to ensure seamless implementation, daily monitoring and 100 percent coverage, reaffirming the government’s commitment to eliminating cervical cancer as a public health concern.
