Srinagar, Oct 28 : The Jammu and Kashmir Dragon Boat Association today felicitated the J&K Dragon Boat Team for winning two Bronze Medals in the Open Women’s and Mixed Categories at the 13th National Dragon Boat Championship 2026, held at Bhalswa Lake, New Delhi, from October 18 to 20.

The championship witnessed participation of over 700 athletes representing 25 states.
Sheikh Junaid Mehmood, IPS, Inspector General of Police / CEO J&K Cyber Crime Coordination Centre was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while Waseem Ahmed Khan, Chief Sales & Marketing, Khyber Cements Ltd. was the Guest of Honour.
On the occasion, the Chief Guest commended the Association for nurturing local talent and providing athletes with opportunities to compete at national and international levels. He praised the medal-winning paddlers for their determination and teamwork and urged young girls to pursue sports with confidence.
The Guest of Honour reaffirmed Khyber Cements Ltd.’s continued support for the Association, emphasizing the company’s commitment to creating opportunities for local athletes.
The team was sponsored by Khyber Cement, whose support contributed to its successful campaign.
The Association also congratulated Coach Farooq Ahmed Bhat on his appointment as Ambassador for South Asian Countries to the IDBF Youth Commission, terming it as an important milestone for Dragon Boat Sports in Jammu and Kashmir.
Association President M. Syed Punoo, IPS (Retd.) and Senior Vice President Er. Aamir Ali congratulated the medal winners, particularly Coach Farooq Ahmed Bhat and team officials. They also expressed gratitude to Khyber Cements Ltd. and J&K Police for their continued support.
