Jammu clinches UT-Level Girls’ Judo Championship

Srinagar, Oct 9: The Inter-District UT-Level Judo Championship for Girls concluded today at the Indoor Sports Hall, Polo Ground, Srinagar, with Jammu clinching the overall championship trophy, while Srinagar secured the runner-up position in the overall medal tally.

The championship was organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, and hosted by the District Youth Services and Sports Office, Srinagar, as part of its continued efforts to promote sporting excellence and provide young athletes with opportunities to showcase their talent and competitive abilities.
The championship witnessed enthusiastic participation from girl judokas representing different districts of the Union Territory. The athletes displayed commendable technical skills, determination, discipline and sportsmanship throughout the competition.\
peaking on the occasion, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Srinagar, Ghulam Hassan Lone, stated that sporting activities across the district are progressing in full swing, with departmental officials working round the clock to ensure the successful conduct of sporting events to a high standard. He appreciated the dedication, professionalism and sense of responsibility demonstrated by the departmental staff, emphasising that their collective efforts are directed towards organising quality sporting events and providing athletes with the best possible facilities and hospitality.
He further stated that the department remains committed to creating a supportive sporting environment where athletes can concentrate on their performance and achieve their full potential. He emphasised that efficient management, appropriate facilities and athlete-friendly arrangements remain key priorities for the department.
The organisers, technical officials and participating players appreciated the smooth and systematic conduct of the championship. They commended the departmental technical officials for maintaining a high standard of officiating in line with international standards, ensuring fairness and professionalism throughout the competition.
The participants and officials also appreciated the hospitality and arrangements provided by the host district, describing them as satisfactory and up to the expected standard. The coordinated efforts of the organising team, technical officials and supporting staff contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the event.
The championship provided a valuable platform for young female judokas to showcase their abilities, gain competitive experience and strengthen the values of discipline, confidence and sportsmanship. The event also reaffirmed the Department of Youth Services and Sports’ commitment to nurturing young sporting talent and promoting a vibrant sports culture across Jammu and Kashmir.
