IUST to host J&K Science Congress From Sept 29

Awantipora, August 15: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Science, Technology & Innovation Council (JKSTIC), Government of Jammu & Kashmir, will host the Jammu & Kashmir Science Congress 2026 from September 29 to October 1, 2026, at the University campus. The Congress will be held on the theme “Science, Innovations and Emerging Technologies for Sustainable and Viksit J&K.”

The three-day scientific congregation will bring together more than 500 scientists and researchers, besides academicians, innovators, entrepreneurs, industry professionals, policymakers and students from across the country to deliberate on the role of science, technology and innovation in advancing sustainable development in Jammu & Kashmir.
The Congress aims to promote scientific research, innovation, entrepreneurship and technology-driven solutions to regional and global challenges, while strengthening collaboration among academia, industry, government agencies, start-ups and development organisations.
The event will feature plenary lectures by eminent scientists, technical sessions, panel discussions, exhibitions, start-up showcases, innovation displays and policy dialogues focusing on emerging technologies and sustainable development. The Congress will have thematic tracks on Advanced Materials, Nanoscience and Sustainable Manufacturing; Drug Discovery, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Healthcare Innovations; AI, Data Science and Emerging Digital Technologies; Biotechnology and Bioeconomy; Sustainable Energy and Himalayan Ecosystem Resilience; Water Security and Earth System Sciences; Science, Society and Sustainable Development; Science Communication, Media and Public Engagement; Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Humanities, Ethics and Emerging Technologies; Sustainable Food Processing; Smart Engineering Systems and Industry 5.0; Physical, Chemical and Mathematical Sciences; and Natural Sciences, Biodiversity Conservation and Environmental Sustainability.
A special focus of the Congress will be on school-level science outreach, with competitions, exhibitions, poster and model presentations, and other educational and interactive programmes for school students from across Jammu & Kashmir. These initiatives aim to nurture scientific curiosity, creativity and innovation among young learners and provide them an opportunity to engage with the wider scientific community.
The Congress seeks to create actionable pathways for sustainable development through scientific excellence, innovation and technology dissemination, contributing to a resilient, knowledge-driven and innovation-led ecosystem aligned with the vision of Viksit Jammu & Kashmir. The last date for submission of abstracts to the Congress is August 30, 2026.
