
Budgam, Mar 8: International Women’s Day 2026 was celebrated with enthusiasm at Sheikh-ul-Alam Hall, DC Office Budgam, under the theme “Give to Gain.” The event was organized by the District Social Welfare Officer Budgam under the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVAY) to honor women’s achievements and promote gender equality.
The programme was attended by key district officials, including District Development Commissioner Budgam Mr. Athar Amir Khan (IAS), Assistant Commissioner Revenue Ms. Afroza Bano (JKAS), District Social Welfare Officer Mr. Ubaid Ul Khazir (JKAS), and District Mission Coordinator Sankalp Hub Budgam Ms. Afroza Ahad.
In his address, DDC Budgam emphasized that empowering women through education, economic independence, and awareness is vital for sustainable and inclusive development. Ms. Bano encouraged women to take active roles in social, economic, and leadership spheres, highlighting that societal progress relies on providing equal opportunities and fostering confidence among women.
Mr. Ubaid Ul Khazir outlined various welfare initiatives under Mission Shakti, including counseling services, legal assistance, awareness programmes, and institutional support. Ms. Afroza Ahad highlighted Sankalp Hub’s efforts in guiding women and facilitating access to government schemes for empowerment and welfare.
The event celebrated women’s contributions while reaffirming the administration’s commitment to creating an equitable and empowering environment.
