
Mizoram , May 23: In a swift and coordinated joint operation, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Mizoram Police, recovered an illegal firearm along with ammunition in Tuikhawtlang under Aizawl District, Mizoram, on 21 May 2026.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs and maintaining close inter-agency coordination, the security forces launched a targeted operation in the area. During the search, personnel recovered one illegal .32 calibre pistol, five live rounds of ammunition, and 16 fired cartridge cases from the possession linked to the operation.
An individual suspected to be involved in the illegal possession and possible misuse of the weapon was apprehended on the spot. Officials confirmed that the operation was executed without any collateral incident, reflecting the precision and preparedness of the joint team.
Following the recovery, the seized weapon, ammunition, and the apprehended person were formally handed over to Aizawl Police Station for further investigation.
