IGAR (N) visits ‘The Great Naga’ Bn in Nagaland to review ops

Sataka, Feb 14: Inspector General of Assam Rifles (North) conducted a familiarisation visit to the BSF Battalion ‘The Great Naga’ in Sataka on February 13, 2026, to assess operational preparedness, administrative effectiveness, and overall welfare measures of the unit.

During the visit, the IG reviewed the current security scenario in the region, discussing strategies to strengthen border surveillance, maintain law and order, and ensure rapid response capabilities in case of any emergent threats. Special attention was given to evaluating the civil-military interface and ongoing community engagement initiatives, aimed at fostering trust and cooperation with local populations.
The inspection also covered administrative functions and welfare measures, including troop accommodations, health and training facilities, and morale-boosting programs, ensuring that operational readiness is complemented by the well-being of personnel.
Inspector General engaged directly with the troops, interacting with officers and jawans, acknowledging their professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and tranquillity in the strategically sensitive area. He emphasized the importance of maintaining high operational standards while nurturing positive civil-military relations, crucial for the overall stability and development of the region.
The IG’s visit reflects the Assam Rifles’ ongoing focus on strengthening border security, improving operational efficiency, and supporting community-centric initiatives, ensuring that units remain vigilant, well-equipped, and capable of meeting evolving security challenges in Nagaland.
The Battalion command highlighted ongoing operational exercises, coordination with local law enforcement, and proactive community engagement, which have contributed to enhanced security and stability in the area, reinforcing the Assam Rifles’ role as a trusted security partner in the Northeast.
The visit concluded with the IG appreciating the high degree of professionalism and dedication demonstrated by the Battalion and urging continued excellence in operational and community engagement efforts.
