
Srinagar, June 23: The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu & Kashmir State Centre celebrated International Women in Engineering Day 2026 with a seminar on the theme “Engineering Intelligence” and sub-theme “J&K’s Daughters, Architects of Tomorrow” at its Srinagar centre.
The event brought together engineers, academicians, researchers, students, policymakers, and industry professionals to highlight the contributions of women engineers in innovation, infrastructure development, research, and public service.
IEI J&K Chairman Er. Ferdous Ahad Bhat stressed the growing role of women engineers in building a sustainable and innovative future, while encouraging young professionals to engage with technical platforms and join IEI for career development. Honorary Secretary Er. Irfan Ahmad Reshi outlined the objectives of the seminar and its focus on knowledge sharing.
Interactive sessions featured women engineers, senior professionals, and retired experts who shared their experiences, achievements, and challenges in diverse engineering fields.
The valedictory session was attended by MLA Lal Chowk Ahsan Pardesi and SSM College Vice Chairperson Dilafrose Qazi, who praised the contributions of women engineers and called for greater participation of women in technical professions.
A key highlight of the event was the IEI J&K Women in Engineering Awards 2026, recognizing excellence across three categories—Emerging Woman Engineer, Woman Engineering Leadership, and Distinguished Woman Engineer.
Awardees were honoured for their contributions in areas such as power systems, water resources, healthcare engineering, infrastructure, IT, transportation, and research.
Speakers congratulated the recipients and appreciated IEI J&K’s initiative in promoting gender inclusion in engineering and inspiring future generations.
