New Delhi, May 16: Havildar Dhirendra Singh Shah of Assam Rifles was honoured at the 5th Citizens’ Gratitude to Gallant Warriors ceremony held at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Hall in New Delhi, organised by the ‘Ek Hi Rasta Trust’, in recognition of his exceptional courage and operational excellence during counter-insurgency operations in Manipur.

He was presented with a Letter of Gratification and a commemorative memento acknowledging his leadership, bravery, and sustained contribution in high-risk operational environments marked by difficult terrain and persistent security challenges.
The honour specifically recognised his pivotal role during Operation Kshetri-Irilbung conducted in Imphal East district on 14 September 2025, where he led his team with determination despite the threat of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and challenging ground conditions. The operation resulted in the successful apprehension of three insurgents.
Officials noted that Havildar Shah has been part of multiple coordinated counter-insurgency operations, contributing significantly to improved security outcomes in the region. Assam Rifles officials also acknowledged the recognition, stating that such honours serve as a morale booster for personnel deployed in high-risk areas and reflect the continued dedication of the force towards ensuring security and stability in the North East.
The ceremony concluded with tributes to gallant personnel from various security forces, highlighting their sacrifices and unwavering commitment to national service.
