
New Delhi, May 7: General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd), Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram, visited Serchhip on May 6, 2026, where he held wide-ranging interactions with ex-servicemen, students, and Assam Rifles personnel, highlighting the importance of civil–military harmony and community engagement.
During his visit, the Governor interacted with 22 ex-servicemen, 30 students of Government Serchhip College, and around 250 Assam Rifles personnel. He appreciated their service, discipline, and contributions towards nation-building, noting that their efforts play a vital role in strengthening the country’s social and security fabric.
The interaction also served as a platform for dialogue between youth, veterans, and serving personnel, fostering mutual understanding and boosting morale across all groups present.
As part of his programme, the Governor participated in a tree plantation drive, underscoring the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable development. He also visited Shalom Special Children School, where he spent time with children and interacted warmly with them, appreciating the efforts of the institution in supporting special needs education.
Officials stated that the visit reinforced the strong bond between Assam Rifles and the local community, while also strengthening civil–military relations in the region through meaningful engagement and outreach activities.
