Gulmarg, Pahalgam record sub-zero temperature

Dry weather to continue till Nov 24: MeT

The upper reaches of Kashmir including famous ski resort of Gulmarg recorded sub zero temperature, leading to drop in the temperature.
A MeT official said the minimum temperature in Gulmarg and Pahalagam tourist resorts was recorded - 3.6 degrees Celsius and - 2.6 degrees Celsius respectively.
The minimum temperature in Srinagar also plunged to 2.0 degrees Celsius today as against 5.0 degrees Celsius recorded the previous night.
Qazigund had a minimum of 2.6 degrees Celsius against the 5.4 degrees Celsius recorded the previous night and it was 2.1°C above normal.
The picnic spot of Kokernag in south Kashmir recorded a low of 4.2 degrees Celsius.
Kupwara had a low of 0.2 degrees Celsius against the 1.1 degrees Celsius recorded the previous night.
The day's temperature improved, but remained below normal, even as the bright sun appeared in Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir valley on Monday.
The MeT official said the weather in Kashmir is likely to remain dry till November 23.
“Another wet spell is likely to commence on November 24 with the possibility of light rain and light snow over higher reaches and at scattered places of Kashmir and isolated places of Jammu division,” he said.
The official said weather is very likely to remain generally dry till November 30.
The MeT office issued an advisory stating, “Minimum temperatures are likely to drop by 1-2°C at many stations in the Kashmir Division and a few places in the Jammu region over the next five days.
Meanwhile, as the winter is approaching, Chinar trees are shedding their leaves after changing colour from green to crimson and finally yellow. The falling leaves herald the arrival of winter in Kashmir.
