Aziwal , June 2: Major General Subhankar Basu, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 57 Mountain Division, paid a courtesy call on the Governor, General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd.), at Lok Bhavan on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the two discussed matters related to regional security, operational preparedness, and coordination between civil and military authorities. The interaction also focused on ongoing developmental initiatives in strategically important areas under the division’s jurisdiction.
The Governor appreciated the role of the Indian Army in maintaining peace and stability in difficult terrain conditions and acknowledged its continued contribution to humanitarian assistance and disaster response efforts.
Major General Basu briefed the Governor on the operational environment and highlighted the division’s ongoing activities aimed at ensuring security along sensitive regions. He also reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to supporting civil administration whenever required.
The meeting underscored continued cooperation between the civil administration and the armed forces in strengthening stability, development, and public outreach in the region.
