
Baramulla, May 11:The non-gazetted employees of Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla Started an indefinite strike today, demanding immediate formulation and Implementation of Service Recruitment Rules — a demand pending for the last Seven years.
The employees, Such as Storekeeper cum Clerk Cum Computer operator/Coding Clerk cum Computer Operator/Recordkeeper cum Clerk/Record Clerk, Junior Staff Nurse, Lab Assistant/Dental Technicians/Technical Assistant/Jr Pharmacist/Radiography technician/Ophthalmology Assistant/Physiotherapist/Occupational therapist/Medico social Worker/Vocational Counsellors/Telephone Supervisor/Artist Modular and Multi Tasking Staff etc.who were appointed through Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) in the year 2019/2020/2021,when five new GMCs were established in the Union Territor۔The employees expressed deep concern over the d delay in finalisation of recruitment rules.
The draft rules were published in the year 2025 for seeking of objections from stakeholders and as on date finalisation is pending which has hampered the Process for DPC constitution and led to Stagnation in career progression of 3000 employees across five Medical Colleges.
Many employees are reportedly due for promotion, but in the absence of recruitment rules, the process cannot be initiated ۔The staff is urging the government to finalize the Recruitment rules and get the approval from ARI Training department for its implementation ۔
