Srinagar, Aug 2: The Nasha Mukti Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) Cell of the Government College of Education (GCoE), IASE, Srinagar, successfully organized a comprehensive institutional campaign under the theme "Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan 2026" today.

Conducted under the leadership of the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Seema Naz, the campaign focused on addressing the growing challenge of substance abuse through awareness, education, and collective action. The initiative sought to engage young people in fostering civic responsibility, promoting healthy lifestyles, and cultivating a sustained anti-drug consciousness among students, faculty, and non-teaching staff.
The programme formally commenced in the college auditorium with introductory remarks by Prof. Bilqees Aslam. The gathering began with the collective rendition of the National Anthem, followed by the administration of the Anti-Drug Mass Pledge by Prof. Altaf Shah Syed. NSS volunteers, students, faculty members, and staff enthusiastically participated in the pledge, reaffirming their shared commitment to combating substance abuse and building a healthier, drug-free society.
Addressing the gathering, the Principal, delivered an insightful keynote address outlining the significance of the campaign and the institution's commitment to promoting a drug-free environment. She emphasized that a healthy and empowered youth population forms the foundation of a progressive, self-reliant, and developed nation.
Stressing the role of educational institutions in shaping responsible citizens, she reiterated the college's unwavering zero-tolerance policy towards drug abuse and urged every stakeholder to contribute actively to the national mission.
As part of the awareness campaign, a thought-provoking institutional skit was presented under the coordination of Dr. Irfat Ara Khan, Convenor of the Cultural Committee. The performance highlighted the challenges encountered by individuals during the post-rehabilitation phase, particularly the social stigma and discrimination they often face despite their recovery. Through a sensitive and impactful portrayal, the skit encouraged empathy, social acceptance, and community support while challenging deep-rooted prejudices against rehabilitated individuals. The presentation effectively conveyed that successful recovery must be complemented by societal inclusion and equal opportunities for reintegration.
The programme also witnessed the live telecast of the national event that enabled participants to join the nationwide campaign virtually.
