Champhai , April 29: Assam Rifles under Spear Corps conducted a free medical camp at Vaphai village in Champhai district, benefiting around 150 residents through health services and awareness initiatives.
The camp was organised on April 28, 2026, with the aim of providing accessible healthcare to villagers in the remote area and promoting awareness about basic health and hygiene practices.
During the camp, a team of medical personnel provided consultations, conducted general health check-ups, and distributed essential medicines to patients. Villagers of all age groups, including elderly residents, women, and children, availed the medical services.
Officials said the initiative was part of ongoing efforts by Assam Rifles to strengthen outreach in remote and border areas, where access to healthcare facilities is often limited. Along with treatment, the medical team also educated villagers on preventive healthcare measures and the importance of early diagnosis.
Residents of Vaphai village expressed gratitude for the camp, stating that such initiatives help address immediate health concerns and reduce the need to travel long distances for basic medical assistance.
Assam Rifles reiterated its commitment to continuing such welfare activities aimed at improving living conditions and supporting communities in far-flung regions of Mizoram.
