Itanagar, Feb 19: In a spirited display of adventure and outreach, the Assam Rifles, under the aegis of the Spear Corps, flagged off “The Eastern Edge Expedition” on 18 February 2026 from the historic Pangsau Pass in Arunachal Pradesh.
Organised under Operation Sadbhavana, the initiative reflects the Indian Army’s sustained commitment to fostering goodwill, youth empowerment, and stronger civil-military bonds in the Northeast. The expedition, undertaken in collaboration with Hero MotoCorp, features 24 bikers embarking on a challenging journey across rugged and strategically significant terrain along India’s eastern frontier.
Pangsau Pass, perched along the Indo-Myanmar border and historically linked to the Stilwell Road, provided a symbolic starting point — representing resilience, connectivity, and the enduring spirit of the region. The riders, a mix of armed forces personnel and civilian motorcycling enthusiasts, aim to traverse demanding routes while engaging with local communities, especially the youth, to inspire confidence, adventure, and national integration.
Senior officials of the Assam Rifles highlighted that the expedition is more than a motorcycling event — it is a platform to promote camaraderie, cultural exchange, and awareness about the unique heritage of Arunachal Pradesh. By combining adventure sports with outreach activities, medical camps, and interactive sessions, the initiative seeks to encourage young people to pursue constructive aspirations and embrace opportunities beyond geographical constraints.
The partnership with Hero MotoCorp adds technical strength and logistical support, reinforcing the synergy between the armed forces and corporate stakeholders in nation-building efforts.
As the convoy of motorcycles roared to life against the mist-laden hills of Arunachal Pradesh, “The Eastern Edge Expedition” set forth not just as a journey across terrain, but as a mission to strengthen bonds, ignite youthful ambition, and celebrate the indomitable spirit of India’s eastern edge.
