
GanderbaL, May 2: Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Ganderbal conducted a series of zone-wise sports activities under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan.
The programme commenced with a pledge ceremony, where participants vowed to stay away from drugs and contribute towards building a drug-free society. During the session, awareness was also raised about the harmful effects of substance abuse, including its impact on physical health, mental well-being, academic performance, and social life. Students were encouraged to make informed choices, support their peers, and act as ambassadors of a drug-free community.
In Zone Kangan, Kabaddi for U-14 girls and a Cyclothon were organised. Zone Hariganwan hosted Kabaddi competitions, while Zone Tulmullah also conducted Kabaddi events. In Zone Ganderbal, Table Tennis competitions were held.
Students from various institutions participated actively, promoting fitness, teamwork, and awareness against drug abuse.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Ganderbal, Sheikh Shafqat Iqbal, appreciated the efforts of the staff and the enthusiastic participation of students. He emphasized that awareness combined with sports plays a crucial role in steering youth away from substance abuse and towards a healthy, disciplined lifestyle.
The activities concluded successfully, reinforcing the message of fitness, awareness, and collective responsibility towards building a drug-free society.
