DSWO Srinagar organizes Training-cum orientation Programme under NMBA

Srinagar, Feb 25: District Social Welfare Office (DSWO) Srinagar successfully organized a Training-cum orientation Programme under the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) at Government College for Women, M. A. Road, Srinagar.

The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness about substance abuse prevention and strengthening to build capacities and enhance institutional mechanisms for early identification, counselling, and rehabilitation of individuals affected by drug abuse. The event witnessed the active participation of Assistant Professors and esteemed members of the college faculty.
During the programme, a medical expert delivered a comprehensive presentation on the harmful effects of drug abuse, early warning signs, preventive strategies, and available de-addiction facilities. The session emphasized the critical role of educational institutions in addressing substance abuse among youth.
A clinical Psychologist from ATF Psychiatric Hospital, Rainawari also addressed the gathering and highlighted the psychological dimensions of addiction, behavioural indicators, and the importance of timely counselling and psychosocial intervention. The expert elaborated on the Drug De-Addiction Programme framework and discussed strategies for providing emotional and psychological support to vulnerable individuals.
An interactive question and answer session was held during which faculty members actively engaged with the experts, raising important queries regarding identification of at-risk students, referral mechanisms, counselling procedures, and community involvement. The experts provided detailed responses, making the session highly informative and impactful.
The programme concluded with a felicitation segment acknowledging the contributions of the resource persons and appreciating the cooperation of the college administration and faculty for their active support in furthering the objectives of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan
