Prof. Nazir Ahmad Wani graduated from Govt. Medical College Srinagar and completed his Masters in Surgery, thereafter pursued his career at United Kingdom where he passed his FRCS at Edinburg and joined SKIMS as a faculty member in early 90’s.

Director SKIMS Dr. A.G. Ahangar while paying tributes to him said that Dr Nazir Ahmad Wani was a medical luminary and served the Institution in several capacities. His contribution was tremendous and remarkable in shaping the department of surgery and will be remembered by generations to come. Besides, a surgeon par excellence he was a compassionate human being, he added. He  trained and taught generations of students who are working all over the world and are Brand Ambassadors of SKIMS today. He laid the solid foundations of various disciplines of surgery at SKIMS and represented SKIMS at international fora with tremendous applause. His demise created a big void in the field of medical sciences and will always be remembered by medical fraternity at SKIMS, Dr. Ahangar added.

Director/EOSG and Faculty Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences condole the sad demise of Prof. Nazir Ahmad Wani, former Dean Medical Faculty and HOD General Surgery SKIMS. They prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and expressed heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family.
