
Srinagar, May 19: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo on Tuesday chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the DC Office Complex to assess the progress of various flagship welfare and pension schemes in the district.
The meeting focused on schemes including Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana (PM-SYM), JK Samadhan, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana (PM-KMY), and the National Pension Scheme for Traders and Self-Employed Persons.
During the review, the DC took a detailed sector-wise assessment of targets and achievements, with emphasis on social security coverage, pension enrolment, and grievance redressal mechanisms for workers, farmers, traders, and self-employed individuals.
Officials presented a department-wise briefing highlighting registration status, beneficiary enrolment, and awareness activities under the respective schemes. The DC stressed the need for intensified outreach to ensure maximum coverage of eligible beneficiaries within stipulated timelines.
He directed line departments to strengthen coordination with field staff and conduct on-the-spot registrations of left-out eligible individuals to improve last-mile delivery of benefits.
Regarding the National Pension Scheme for Traders and Self-Employed Persons, the DC instructed the General Manager, DIC, to expedite implementation in coordination with allied departments and achieve measurable progress by June 10, 2026.
The meeting was attended by senior district officers from various departments, including health, education, agriculture, tourism, labour, social welfare, and municipal services, among others, who reviewed sector-specific progress and implementation challenges.
Officials reiterated that the schemes are aimed at strengthening social security and ensuring financial protection for vulnerable sections of society through systematic and inclusive implementation.
