The meeting was attended by senior officers from GMC Srinagar, SKIMS Soura, Srinagar Smart City Limited, Police Housing Corporation, KPDCL, R&B, Mechanical and Hospital divisions, Traffic Police, Revenue Department and other concerned departments.
During the review, the DC assessed key initiatives including expansion of healthcare infrastructure, road widening for improved access to SKIMS Soura, traffic decongestion measures, and identification of land for a proposed new OPD block.
He also reviewed progress on development works related to sports and recreational infrastructure, libraries, smart classrooms, sanitation facilities, hostel amenities, landscaping, and overall campus improvement at GMC Srinagar.
Emphasising coordinated inter-departmental efforts, the Deputy Commissioner directed executing agencies to ensure timely completion of all approved projects, stating that these initiatives are crucial for making healthcare institutions more patient-friendly and efficient.
He stressed the need to prioritise traffic decongestion measures to ensure smooth movement of patients, attendants and emergency vehicles around major hospitals, calling for regular monitoring and removal of bottlenecks.
The meeting was informed that administrative approval has been granted for developing sports and recreational facilities at GMC hostels, including badminton and basketball courts, a gymnasium, reading rooms, jogging tracks and indoor sports infrastructure. Installation of improved signage across the GMC campus is also underway to enhance accessibility.
Progress on beautification works, including lawns at SMHS Hospital and GMC Srinagar and macadamisation of internal roads, was also reviewed. Officials informed that DPRs for a corridor linking SMHS Hospital with Super Specialty Hospital Shreen Bagh and a multipurpose parking facility have been submitted for approval.
At SKIMS Soura, the meeting was apprised of significant progress in land demarcation for a proposed Trauma Centre and hostel facilities, along with development of green spaces, a jogging park, an alternative entry gate and an underpass within the campus.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that sustained efforts in strengthening healthcare infrastructure will significantly improve services for patients, medical staff and the general public.
