Srinagar, Aug 20: Young Dramatists Society (YDS), Srinagar, presented its Kashmiri theatre production “COFFEE HOUSE” at Tagore Hall, Srinagar, on 20 August 2026 at 4:00 PM. The production received an enthusiastic response from theatre lovers, artists, students and cultural enthusiasts.

Written by Dr. Sohan Lal Koul, the play was directed by Altaf Hussain and conceived and designed by Mushtaq Baqal and Syed Javid Gilani. The production brought together a talented ensemble of theatre artists and showcased the creative strength of Young Dramatists Society.
The performance featured Mushtaq Naika,Mohammad Shafi Khan, Sheikh Mushtaq, Sheikh Shuja, Arjmand Andrabi, Sheikh Fatima, Sabir Rather, Numan Manzoor, Tahir Najar, Junaid Nazir, Tanveer Fighter, Ashraf Razgeeri, Tanveer Dar, Wasaaqat Mehraj, Shamiq Parvez and Gaalib Rashid.
“COFFEE HOUSE” was approved by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, under the Guru-Shishya Parampara Repertory Grant Scheme 2025–2026. The programme was organised in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL).
Mr. Adeel Saleem, Additional Secretary, JKAACL, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Najeeb Latief, JKAACL, was the Guest of Honour.

The presence of students from different genres and backgrounds added a special dimension to the programme and reflected the growing interest of the younger generation in theatre and performing arts.
The production was widely appreciated as a tremendous presentation by Young Dramatists Society, reflecting the group's continued commitment to promoting Kashmiri theatre, nurturing young talent and creating meaningful opportunities for artists.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by renowned anchor Mr. Niyaz Ahmad, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, collaborating institutions, artists, theatre personalities, students, audience members and everyone associated with the successful presentation of “COFFEE HOUSE.”
Young Dramatists Society reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the theatre movement in Jammu & Kashmir and providing a platform for emerging as well as established theatre artist
