Srinagar, June 3: The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Wednesday conducted searches at eight locations across six districts of the valley in connection with a decade-old FIR related to Pakistan-sponsored terrorist outfits, sleeper cell networks, and radicalisation activities.
Officials said the searches were carried out by CIK in FIR No. 02/2015 of P/S CIK Srinagar registered under section 14 of the Foreigners Act, sections 15, 16, 17 and 19 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and section 7/25 of the Arms Act.
Based on recent intelligence inputs, technical analysis and sustained investigation by the CIK, the searches were conducted at two locations in Srinagar and Bandipora, and one location each in Kupwara, Anantnag, Kulgam and Sopore in north Kashmir, they said.
Sources said searches were conducted at the residential premises of certain suspects who had surfaced during the course of investigation through analysis, source reports and preliminary inquiry.
“The operation was undertaken to collect evidence and seize electronic devices, digital records and other incriminating material relevant to the investigation into alleged links with terrorist handlers and involvement in activities prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of the nation,” they said.
“During the course of searches, various electronic gadgets, documents and other materials having bearing on the investigation were seized for further examination.”
Police said the searches were conducted strictly in accordance with law and all legal formalities were duly observed with the assistance of concerned police stations.
