Chinar Warriors shine at Budgam Taekwondo Ch’ship

Budgam, June 23: The Chinar Warriors Dangiwacha team delivered an impressive performance at the Budgam Open State Level Taekwondo Championship 2026, winning a total of 21 medals and securing 5th position overall in Jammu & Kashmir.

The championship was held from June 20 to 22 at the Indoor Sports Stadium Budgam and was organised by the Taekwondo Association of District Budgam in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council. The event saw participation from over 100 teams and nearly 1200 athletes across the region.
The Dangiwacha team, comprising 29 trained athletes under coach Mohsin Ali, bagged 10 gold, 2 silver, and 9 bronze medals, marking one of their strongest performances in recent competitions. The players underwent intensive training and preparation leading up to the championship.
Team members credited their success to disciplined coaching, consistent practice, and encouragement from various supporting institutions. They also acknowledged the role of the Army in motivating and promoting sports activities among youth in the region.
Officials at the event appreciated the rising standard of martial arts in the district and encouraged young athletes to continue their dedication towards sports excellence and national-level participation.
