79 teams with one spirit

August 09, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Baramulla, Aug 8: From the valleys to the mountains, the spirit of cricket is bringing young people together as CPL 2026 brings 79 teams from across the region onto one platform this Independence Day.
More than a cricket tournament, CPL 2026 is being positioned as a celebration of unity, diversity, sportsmanship and the aspirations of youth. With 79 teams participating, the tournament seeks to transform the cricket field into a common ground where talent, teamwork and the spirit of competition come together.
“79 Teams. One Nation. One Spirit.” captures the central message of the tournament, which aims to use sport as a powerful means of connecting communities and inspiring young people.
From different backgrounds and different parts of the region, the participating teams will carry their own stories and ambitions. Yet, on the field, they will share one passion—cricket—and one larger message of unity.
CPL 2026 also provides a platform for emerging cricketers to showcase their skills, gain competitive experience and build confidence. For many young players, such tournaments offer an opportunity to move beyond informal play and test their abilities in an organised and competitive environment.
The tournament reflects the growing role of grassroots sports in engaging youth and encouraging healthy lifestyles. Regular participation in sports promotes discipline, teamwork, leadership, physical fitness and resilience while providing young people with a constructive avenue to channel their energy and ambition.
The Independence Day backdrop adds another dimension to the tournament. Different teams, different journeys, but one Tricolour and one India—the event seeks to celebrate the values that bind people together beyond geographical and social differences.
As the nation prepares to celebrate Independence Day, CPL 2026 aims to make every run, wicket and boundary part of a larger celebration of youth and national spirit.
The message is simple: play together, compete with pride, rise together and celebrate together.
With 79 teams sharing one field and thousands of young dreams riding on every match, CPL 2026 promises to turn cricket into more than a game—it becomes a celebration of the unity and unstoppable spirit of India.
