Chamalwas wins Ramban volleyball title

Ramban, Sep 19: The 38th Ramban District Volleyball Championship, organised by the Volleyball Association of J&K in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council and J&K Excise Department, culminated today.

In the final match, the Chamalwas team defeated the Pogal team to clinch the championship title.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan was the chief guest on the occasion. The championship was organised under the theme “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life” as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, highlighting the role of sports in promoting a healthy, disciplined and drug-free lifestyle among youth.
SSP Arun Gupta; Dy SP DAR Kuldeep Sharma; representatives from the Volleyball Association of J&K including Kuldeep Magotra, VK Magotra, Mohammad Tariq Khan, Mujahid Hussain, Shameem Ayaz Katoch, besides players, coaches, experts and sports enthusiasts were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the organisers, participating teams, players and officials for successfully conducting the championship. He emphasised the importance of sports in channelising the energy of youth towards constructive pursuits and encouraged young people to participate actively in sporting activities.
The SSP highlighted that regular participation in sports helps inculcate discipline, teamwork, leadership and a spirit of healthy competition, besides contributing to the physical and mental well-being of youth. He also stressed the need for sustained efforts to provide budding sportspersons with adequate opportunities and platforms to showcase their talent.
The championship witnessed participation from 16 teams, with players displaying enthusiasm, skill and competitive spirit throughout the tournament. The event provided a meaningful platform to young sportspersons to hone their talent and promote the message of a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
The DC and SSP also felicitated the winner and runner up teams.
The organisers expressed gratitude to the District Administration, Police Department, J&K Sports Council, Excise Department, participating teams and all stakeholders for their support in making the championship a success.
