BRABU celebrates Independence Day

August 16, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Muzaffarpur, Aug 15: BR Ambedkar Bihar University marked 80th Independence Day with pride and enthusiasm on Saturday. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai hoisted the national flag at Ambedkar Park, within the main administrative block of the university, in the presence of faculty members, administrative officials, students and dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Rai presented a review of the university’s achievements over the past year and outlined his vision for the road ahead. He said the university’s priorities would rest on quality research aimed at societal benefit, a student-centric approach to governance, and greater transparency in administration.
Research must translate into real benefit for society rather than remain confined to papers and seminars, he stated.
Research and innovation, he observed, form the true foundation of a Viksit Bharat. Every meaningful innovation that addresses real challenges moves the nation closer to self-reliance and lasting progress. He appealed to students, teachers and staff to contribute wholeheartedly to this national vision and expressed his trust that they would rise to the occasion.
Prof. Rai acknowledged the technical and administrative hurdles the university had faced over the past year, particularly in resolving pending student issues and the timely award of degrees. Most of these bottlenecks have now been streamlined, he added.
Having taken control of its own data from the external agency that previously managed it, the university is now in a better position to resolve students’ degree and pending result issues efficiently, he said.
Turning to history, Prof. Rai reminded the audience that Bihar once housed the ancient centres of learning at Nalanda and Vikramshila. This legacy places a greater responsibility on every university in the state, and an even greater one on BRABU itself, he noted. “Having Bihar University in the name is not just an identity; it is a responsibility written into our name,” he said.
In his concluding remarks, Prof. Rai observed that administration is not mere paperwork but a promise kept to every student. Bihar gave the world its first universities, and it is now on us to give Bihar a university worthy of that history, he added.
The programme concluded with cultural presentations by students. The event was attended by Madam Vice Chancellor Smt. Bibha Rai, Prof. BS Rai, Prof. Sameer Kumar Sharma, Prof. Rajeev Kumar, Prof. Navedul Haque, Prof. Alok Pratap Singh, Dr. Amar Bahadur Shukla, Dr. Renubala and Dr. Navin Kumar, along with other faculty members and officials.
